- Tsogo Sun
On Friday 11 August 15 volunteers from Tsogo Sun arrived to help Pikkewyntjies with three major shade cloth tasks.
Tsogo Sun having donated the shade cloth in the first place, the team was to:
- replace the shade cloth cover over the vegetable garden which the wind had torn to shreds
- put up shade cloth to break the fierce north wester before it roars into the garden
- line the fence of the playground with a fine shade cloth to keep the snakes one side of the fence and the children the other side of it.

We were all so glad to see them and they were all enthusiastic and positive about getting stuck in and working with us to improve our facilities - but it was raining.
Every one of us was heart glad to see the rain but we did wonder why it happened that it poured all morning and the sun came out in the afternoon and not the other way around.
In between showers we did manage to do a little of the work and the children came in for a lot of fun as the rest of the time volunteers joined them at their tables in the classroom.
Given the weather it could have been a bit of a disaster but thanks to the spirit of everyone present it was a very happy morning, never to be forgotten.

We were thrilled to hear them say they would like to come again next year. As for us, we hoped our words of thank you conveyed how much we appreciated their interest in our school, their support and their warm generosity.
We would also like to thank Tsogo Sun Management for a very generous gift of second hand linen to the school.
