The response was fantastic.

The pledge we had to match was R25 000 and Friends of the school by contacting all their family and friends especially those overseas raised R25 459.

The money will be spent on:

• much needed resources for the classroom
• teacher training
• outings to broaden the children's horizons, most of them have never gone further from their homes than school
